MOTS-c is a peptide composed of 16 amino acids, encoded by mitochondrial DNA. It activates AMPK to regulate metabolic pathways like fatty acid oxidation and gluconeogenesis, helping maintain blood sugar stability, prevent obesity and insulin resistance.
